Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Selecting the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Family Friendly....Gated 33 Acre Ocean Front Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
