Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Feel like home away from home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
