Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. First Floor Unit 1,350 Sq Ft with No Step has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
