Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. WOW! Book a fun fall getaway to the ocean front 1209 Brighton! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
