Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and choose a perfectrental:
- First, have your family agree to a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Fore and Aft - Pet-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
