Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Charming 3 bdrm, nestled among the trees-15C WHP has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Have a great stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
