Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Gorgeous oceanfront condo with unmatched views! Enjoy a family vacation! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
