Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Great Angle Oceanfront Family Suite + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
