Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Harbour Lights™ - Myrtle Beach - 1 Bedroom Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
