Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Harbour Lights Resort
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
