Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Kingston Plantation Ocean view unit - Steps Away From The Shore has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for a great stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
