Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large Family Friendly Condo - Steps to the Beach! Close to Attractions! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
