How to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental:
- To start, have your family decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Large Family Friendly Condo- Beautiful Views of the Pool, Courtyard and Ocean has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
