Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to your budget:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Selecting the perfect rental home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Large Oceanfront Condo - Family Friendly, Beautiful Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your trip.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
