Finding the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Large Oceanfront Two Bedroom Two Bath Condo at Carolina Dunes! (3rd Floor) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
