Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2 Bedroom 2 Bath, Direct oceanfront, Master on Ocean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you crave, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
