Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Lodge 1 Bedroom in a 57 Acre Gated Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
