How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Lollipops Beach House - Four Bedroom, Three Bath, Private Pool in Long Bay has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
