How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Lovely 1st floor condo. 2 blocks from beach. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
