Our top Vacation rental tips:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. MRV25, 2-bedroom cottage, Blocks to Beach! Free WIFI, Free Parking has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
