Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Oceanfront Suite, Prime Loc, Dogs OK has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
