Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Ocean View Luxury Condo in Royale Palms, Kingston Plantation, Myrtle Beach SC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
