Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Luxury Oceanview 2 bed \/ 2 bath - by Luxury Beach Rentals! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
