Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- First, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Gorgeous 2 bed 2 bath 1st flr condo walk 2 beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
