Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Gorgeous 2 bed 2 bath 1st flr condo walk 2 beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
