Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Myrtle Beach Fun
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
