After parking in one of your two parking spots, pass through the front porch to enter the living/dining room. There you will find a couch, a 48" HD intelligent TV with Roku (you can access any streaming account you have), a dining table with seating for four, and counter seating for two.

Beyond is the completely equipped kitchen (refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, tableware, and cookware). Off the kitchen is the utility room with a washer and dryer, cleaning amenities, and beach chairs. Continue toward the back and find a full bathroom with a shower, a door to the back patio, and a staircase. When you’re ready to live that mermaid life and get in the water, you’ll find the pool steps away, just across the parking area. For the beach, walk 800 feet east to beach access or about 1,000 feet to Hurl Rocks Park. At both beach access points, you’ll find ramps to the beach, ideal for getting your beach wagon on the sand!

Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. “Mermaid’s Dream” Short Walk from the Waves & Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your agreement.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
