Strategies to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 21st-floor oceanfront condo with central AC, W\/D, pool, & hot tub has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
