Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and choosing the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Modern, Oceanfront Hideaway - Resort Pools, 2 bds has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
