Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Creek Family Friendly Oceanfront Resort Recently Updated has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
