Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach Resort 9th floor Studio with Incredible View has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
