Vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to your budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. One Bedroom Condo Waterway Village 1E Golfer's Paradise has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
