How to find the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A532 at the Myrtle Beach Resort: Cozy 2 bed 2 bath Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
