Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking a perfectrental home:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Myrtle Beach Resort RT1512 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
