Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Myrtle Beach Villas 304A - 6 Bedroom Condo has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
