Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. N Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Vacation Rental! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
