Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Finding the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Newly Remodeled Beautiful Ocean Lakes Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
