Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Newly Remodeled Beautiful Ocean Lakes Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
