Getting the best rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Newly Remodeled Beautiful Ocean Lakes Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
