Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting and booking the perfectvacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. NEW - Upscale 4BR, Remodeled - Steps to the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Tips to have a fantastic stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
