Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. New, Beautiful Decor, Meridian Plaza, Pools, Nice! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
