Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront South Wind Unit 706: Spacious 5-Bedroom Condo in Myrtle Beach has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
