Vacation rental home tips:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Harbour Lights™ - 1 Bedroom Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
