Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding your best deal:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanview Efficiency DW1512 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
