Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanview Efficiency DW1512 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
