How to book the best vacation home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. NEW LISTING! Coastal Getaway: Prime 3BR Condo 1 Block to Beach by RedAwning has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
