Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Myrtle Beach Resort Unit B240 - Ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
