Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Unparalleled Beauty! Oceanfront Suite @ Camelot has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
