Getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectrental:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Newly renovated beachfront studio with pools, hot tub, fitness room has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
