Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Renovated Clean Home\/King Beds\/Pet Friendly\/Big Patio\/Yard\/Walk to beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
