Vacation rental tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Spacious 3 Bedroom in Ocean Lakes w\/ Golf Cart! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
