Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best rental:
- Select dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Newly Renovated Oceanview Beach Retreat has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
