Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightvacation home:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Newly Renovated Top Floor Condo with Pool, Golf Course View-1 mile to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
