Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Newly Renovated Top Floor Condo with Pool, Golf Course View-1 mile to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
