Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental home:
- Start by having your group commit to dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Newly Upgraded Great 1 bdrm oceanfront condo Near Broadwalk and Downtown has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
